Making money work for us — so a salary is optional, not a leash.
Money that works for us
Most of us trade hours for a paycheck and hope the leftovers become a future. I am interested in the other direction: capital that earns while you sleep, a contribution you leave running, a spend you can live on. The point is optionality — leave, pause, go part-time, or keep the job because you like it.
What compounding actually is
Compounding is slow until it is not. The first years look small. Then the corpus starts earning more in a year than you add. That crossing is the whole game — time, a rate you can live with, and contributions that rise a little as income rises. Inflation eats the other side. Years-to-independence is just those two forces meeting.
Why this site exists
I wanted that calculator in rupees, with Indian pots — NPS, EPF, PPF, gold, jewellery you keep, SIPs still running — and dollars if you live elsewhere. Last numbers stay on this device. No scheme names. Type what you spend and save. See the year work could become optional.
